Former Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly was on SportsCenter this week talking about the NFL draft and NFL defenses. The panel was having a topic on the best defensive units in the NFL. When the secondary group was brought to attention, Kuechly was asked who he thought had the best unit in that area. To mostly everyone’s surprise, Kuechly named the Vikings as the NFL’s best secondary group.
The former star linebacker went on to mention Patrick Peterson and Harrison Smith first, calling them “all pro” level players. Obviously both of these guys are passed their prime, but he said the experience they have and the ability to teach the young guys is very important. With Lewis Cine and Andrew Booth Jr. entering their rookie years, Kuechly thinks learning from future Hall of Famers, Peterson and Smith, will go a long way.
What do you guys think of Kuechly’s comments? Do the Vikings have a chance to have top secondary in 2022? It could take some time for the young guys to learn, but they have great teachers to lead the way.
